Theater Utrecht is the city theater of Utrecht with strong roots in both the city and the province as well as the world. We create political and personal work that speaks out and provides space for perspectives that are heard too little. Our company works from a belief in the power of encounter, research, and experimentation. We are not only a place of making. We are also a place of sharing, questioning, and reflection – together with other artists and our audience.

Now that we have settled into our new home on Boorstraat, we want to open this space for makers who want to investigate and try out. We offer various types of programs in which you can deepen, collaborate, stumble, and grow without production pressure. All this under the motto: STAY SOFT. Take care of yourself, the process, and each other.

OPEN CALL I – RESIDENCIES

Are you a theater maker, writer, director, performer with an urgent idea or research question? Theater Utrecht offers space to 3 makers from the city and the province this autumn to work in our studios on Boorstraat for two weeks. OPEN CALL II – CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

In our new home on Boorstraat, we are developing a lively creation space together where young and mid-career makers can deepen, challenge, and express themselves. This concept development trajectory offers time and attention to the questions that concern you. Together with our company dramaturg, makers, and peers, you will explore how your ideas can grow.
