In solidarity with Palestine, Theater Utrecht has recently become an "Apartheid-Free Zone," thereby joining the international campaign of the BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions).
The Apartheid-Free Zone campaign, launched by BDS Netherlands (DocP), aims to create a community of places and people committed to concrete, intersectional measures against the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime.
In today’s world, it is virtually impossible to navigate life without encountering systems of complicity—whether through our consumer choices, our ties to institutions, or the cultural products we engage with—all of which are often intertwined with global injustices and human rights violations.
As people of conscience, it is crucial that we ensure the spaces where we live or participate do not support or sustain a violent, genocidal apartheid regime like Israel’s, do not profit from grave human rights violations, and are not influenced by such systems.
