Koliek

Koliek was one of the most extraordinary texts ever written for the theater. Rainald Goetz's infamous monologue has nothing but EVERYTHING as its subject. What is existence? What are words? What is the world? How can we live in the present while simultaneously trying to understand life? In the hands of director Thibaud Delpeut, Koliek was a musical and visual zoom-in on the elementary particles of what it means to be.
After being postponed several times due to the coronavirus crisis, Koliek finally premiered on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Theater Frascati in Amsterdam. The play ran in Utrecht and The Hague until September 23.
Koliek is like an intense trip to the edge of a black hole, beyond time and space. A special journey where experiencing is at least as important as understanding. With Koliek, actor Vincent van der Valk embodies and gives voice to a text that is guaranteed to push an actor to the limit. He gives, as Goetz calls it, ‘his breath’ to a text that questions whether doubt is ultimately the only possible truth.
