Cellobende
Familyshow

After the phenomenal family performances Cellostorm and Cellokrijgers, Cello Octet Amsterdam now presents, together with Jochem Stavenuiter, the family show Cellobende: a musical theatre performance about the wondrous world of adults, seen through the eyes of a child.
About important appointments, dreams, and death. Through music, the Octet dissects the baffling behaviour of grown-ups. Especially for this production, Morris Kliphuis and Aftab Darvishi are composing new music.
The creators were inspired by Guus Kuijer’s 1978 children’s book How Mieke Mom Found Her Wacky Mother. Not so much by the specific scenes in the book, but by the underlying realisation of how different the worlds of children and adults can be.
Cellobende is made possible by BNG Bank and the Cultuurfonds, thanks to contributions from the Middelbeek Stortenbeker Fund, the Wijdeveld-Polée Fund, the Petronella Andriessen Fund, the Paul Hermann Fund, and the Willem Gehrels Music Fund.
