Als de avond valt, blijft een vrouw achter met haar gedachten, gevangen tussen keukenmuren en de gitzwarte nacht.
Ze schiet van familie-dynamieken tot koortsachtige straatintimidatie die onder je huid kruipen.
In een hoopvolle zoektocht naar een luisterend oor, probeert ze het onbespreekbare taal te geven.
‘De wereld wil me soms doen geloven dat er geen luisterende mannen meer bestaan
Maar ik weiger dat te geloven.’
Etymologie is een monoloog die een gesprek wil zijn. Waarin één vrouw zoekt naar twee mannen die getuige willen zijn van haar gedachten.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jonnah Lee Goldberg (Amsterdam, 1998) is actrice en maker, met een grote verwondering over de menselijke psyche. In haar werk zoekt ze naar de echte ontmoeting, daar waar perspectieven mogen schuren en waar ruimte is voor verhalen die vaak ongezien of ongehoord blijven, met in het bijzonder aandacht voor de positie van de vrouw. Ze heeft een achtergrond in dans en beeldende kunst, die haar inspireert in hoe ze haar personages en projecten aanvliegt.
Naast acteren schrijft Jonnah ook en werkt ze als fotograaf en filmmaker. In haar werk als maker staan vaak kleinmenselijke verhalen centraal. In 2025 studeerde ze af aan de Willem de Kooning Academie met de korte film 'My Dear Caught In Headlights', die ze zelf schreef, regisseerde en speelde. Deze film gebruikte ze als inspiratie voor 'Etymologie'.

Reality is unrealistic. Being someone important, being successful, still being pretty, find yourself in this reality. Are these your legs? Or my arms? Are those my thoughts? Or your learnings? Is it right or wrong? We are carrying the burden of what is expected, molded by the unrealistic reality. By the reality we are trying to change
The piece is a grieving of the idea of a woman that is getting passed through lives, the idea that will still take revolutions to change, the idea of a woman I cannot be. An idea I don’t want to be.
Gestação is a duet that explores the struggle of fitting into pre constructed ideals of young womanhood. Through movement, we navigate aesthetics, physicality, elegance, self care, sexuality, marriage, pregnancy, and manners. This work is a satire on the high standards imposed by society.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gaia Cavagliá (2002) is an Italian dancer and performer currently in her final year of the Bachelor’s program at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg, the Netherlands. In 2020, she moved to Porto, where she spent a year at Pallco Performing Arts School & Conservatory and subsequently began her journey into contemporary dance through the Oficina Zero intensive program.
Over the past year, Gaia has had the opportunity to study with and take part in creation processes led by renowned artists such as Mafalda Deville, Horácio Macuácua, Helder Seabra, Brandon Lagaert, and the Vandeutekom Collective.
Sara Ferreira (2004) is a Portuguese–Norwegian contemporary dance artist and performer, currently in her fourth year of the Dance Arts in Context Bachelor program at Fontys. In 2022, she graduated from Ginasiano Escola de Dança in Porto, Portugal, where this year beginning to teach and collaborate on projects in partnership with KALE Dance Company. Throughout her journey, Sara collaborated with choreographers such as Hélder Seabra, Brandon Lagaert, Sara Angelucci, Anna Mikula, Ronja Keultjes, Samuel Mathieu and André Mesquita. She has also participated in workshops and intensive programs with artists like Lali Ayguadé, Milan Herich, Sita Ostheimer, Peter Jasko, and Rakesh Sukesh.
